Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 13, 2026
This policy explains what information Scripture Links ("we," "us," "the site") collects, why, and what choices you have. We keep the list of things we intentionally collect short on purpose: an email address for signing in, and your game records. The rest of this policy is mostly about what our advertising partners collect on our behalf, since that happens automatically and deserves to be spelled out clearly.
1. Information We Collect Directly
Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address, which we use solely to let you sign in and to identify which game records belong to you. We do not use it for marketing and we do not sell it.
Game records. If you're signed in, we store your puzzle results, scores, streaks, and attempt history so they can sync across your devices. If you're not signed in, this same information is kept only in your browser's local storage and never leaves your device.
2. Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure automatically logs basic technical data for security and reliability purposes — things like IP address, browser type, device type, and pages requested. This is standard server/CDN logging, not something we actively review on a per-person basis.
3. Advertising & Cookies
This site shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies (such as device identifiers) to serve ads, measure their performance, and in some cases personalize which ads you see based on your visits to this and other sites. This can include information such as your approximate location, device type, and browsing activity used for ad targeting.
We do not control what Google's advertising systems collect. You can review how Google uses this data, and adjust your ad personalization settings directly, here:
- How Google uses information from sites that use its services
- Google Ads Settings — opt out of personalized advertising
If you're located in the EU, UK, or a region with similar requirements, you'll be shown a consent banner on your first visit where you can choose whether to allow personalized advertising cookies. You can change your choice at any time from that same banner.
4. How We Use Information
- To let you sign in and keep your account secure
- To save and sync your game records across devices
- To keep the site reliable and secure, and to detect abuse
- To display and measure advertising, as described above
5. Third Parties We Share Data With
We use reputable third-party providers to host the site, run our backend, and store data securely. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments — we don't sell or share your information with anyone for their own marketing purposes. Our advertising partner, Google AdSense, is the one exception where data flows to a third party (Google) for the purpose of showing ads, as described in Section 3.
6. Your Choices & Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to opt out of the "sale or sharing" of personal information, which can include data used for ad personalization).
You can exercise any of these rights — including deleting your account and associated game records — by contacting us at the email below. For ad personalization specifically, you can also opt out directly via the Google Ads Settings page or the on-site consent banner.
7. Children's Privacy
Scripture Links is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information (such as an email address) from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Data Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the site and secure, hashed storage of account credentials. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information appropriately.
9. Data Retention
We retain account information and game records for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your associated personal information and game records within a reasonable time, except where retention is required for legal or security purposes.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the site grows — for example, as new features are added. We'll update the effective date above when we do. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
